The session will begin with a rapid-fire showcase of six varying sized pediatrician-scientist residency training programs. The showcase will highlight each program's innovative training approaches, current outcomes and areas for improvement. These six exemplary programs will be selected from a comprehensive list of training programs in the US, which will be included in an electronic booklet presenting a compilation of program highlights. The electronic booklet will be prepared by the National Pediatrician-Scientist Collaborative Workgroup (NPSCW), and provided to all session participants for their reference during the roundtable networking session that will follow the showcase. In roundtable networking, facilitated by the NPSCW and other stakeholder faculty, participants will share and discuss innovative solutions to address contemporary challenges in pediatrician-scientist training. The topics for roundtable discussion will be generated in advance based on themes derived from the NPSCW compilation of the pre-meeting collection of program information and from themes central to the PAS and stakeholder meetings (e.g., SPR, AMSPDC), such as diversity, equity, and inclusion. Each facilitator will create a "field note" for synthesis of a scholarly report to inform the pediatrician-scientist community at large.
This session is open for all PAS attendees.
