Children and adolescents have been greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, not only from disruptions in school and activities, but also directly from infection with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Presentations will progress through a spectrum of COVID-19 related topics with a focus on the pediatric population from initial infection to longer-term impacts. First, antibody seroprevalence will be discussed, covering national as well as state and regional data, and what this means in comparison to reported case counts. Then, transmission data will be reviewed, including recent household and school transmission data. The third speaker will focus on severity of illness and give the latest update on pediatric COVID-19 hospitalizations and multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) including risk factors, burden, trends, and clinical manifestations. The final speaker will cover long-term sequelae of COVID-19 in children, including symptoms, severity, timeline, and current treatment recommendations. Throughout the session, the impact of vaccination and mitigation measures on these outcomes will be discussed.
