Walker, MD, MPH: Health Equity, Structural Racism as a NICU Determinant of Health and Disabusing Denial of Racialized Differences in Treatment within the NICU – examining the historical legacies of prejudice and discrimination in medicine and applying this information to improve the provision of equitable specialty care and access to NICU services
Dalia Feltman MD, MA: Health Equity, Extremely Early Births and Research on Health Outcome Disparities – discussing key findings from the “Investigating Neonatal Decisions for Extremely Early Deliveries” (INDEED) study reviewing inborn deliveries between 22 and 24 weeks completed gestational age at 15 U.S. centers over the last decade.
Uchenna Anani, MD: Health Equity, Parental Engagement and Provision of Trauma-Informed Care –illustrating how various forms of trauma including structural racism and intergenerational trauma impact infant-maternal dyads in the neonatal intensive care unit and how utilizing a trauma informed care approach can help address inequities in patient care for minority and underserved families.
