Three open-source claims-based pediatric algorithms have been developed, validated, and implemented to identify medically vulnerable children using hospital and payer claims data: the Children with Disabilities Algorithm (CWDA), Complex Chronic Condition Algorithm (CCCA), the Pediatric Medical Complexity Algorithm (PMCA). The workshop will open with participants’ interests and a historical perspective (Dr. Kuhlthau) about the algorithms role in improving child health. Current algorithm authors (Drs. Alyna Chien, Chris Feudtner, Tamara Simon) will then present and contrast the algorithms’ features followed by Q&A. The second half of the workshop will be devoted to working through use cases prepared by research faculty (Drs. JoAnna Leyenaar, Carolyn Foster). Participants: please email pedalgorithms@gmail.com to pre-register for this course so we can send you a poll, course materials, and workshop timing; however, drop-ins are also welcome.
