Community Health Workers in Child Global Health: Community health workers (CHWs) are a critical resource, particularly in settings with a shortage of health care providers. They are utilized to provide primary care, maternal child health, and other basic health care services to the local population. CHWs can contribute to community development and improve access to healthcare for their communities, leading to improved health outcomes. Training and support varies from location to location, and both are critical to an effective CHW system. The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted health services around the world, and it has made access to basic healthcare more difficult.
This year at PAS, the Global Health SIG is bringing together some of the world’s experts in developing and sustaining community health programs in order to explore the impact that COVID-19 has had on these essential services.
