The hospital environment has many potential risks that require mitigation for the prevention of infection in hospitalized pediatric patients. Appreciation of potential sources of infection and moments for interruption of transmission is continually evolving. Care interventions may be used to appropriately isolate infectious patients but may also help protect vulnerable patients from environmental risks. This session will enhance the ability for pediatricians to make appropriate recommendations to improve patient safety, and to navigate potential environmental challenges for their units and organizations.
