Promoting diversity, equity and inclusion is an essential priority for healthcare institutions nationally. However, there are many barriers to building an anti-racism framework into pediatric divisions. We will share the experiences from six different clinical sites including both community and academic settings, discussing barriers faced and the strategies and tactics used to overcome them using an adaptation of the Blueprint for Organizational Strategies focusing on cultural transformation, foundational programming and sustainability (1). We will use Dr. Ibrahim’s Becoming Anti-Racist Framework to target interventions for the fear, learning and growth zones and share the different tactics used to address AAMC Pillars of Medical Education, Medical Research, Community Engagement, Improving Patient Care, and Workforce within community and academic settings (2,3). In addition, participants will engage in open discussion with their peers, learning from their experiences and identifying actionable steps to improve diversity, equity and inclusion at their home institutions.
