Non-invasive ventilation is a frequently utilized strategy in managing respiratory support for preterm as well as sick term infants. Following the correct steps while administering each modality not only avoids further morbidities but also saves time and efforts while caring for these infants. This workshop will demonstrate various strategies that are currently used for performing non-invasive ventilation in newborn infants as are managed by the experts in the field. The presenters will highlight importance of each strategy and guide the attendees on when and how to use the modality to the fullest. There will be live demonstrations with devices frequently used to provide non-invasive ventilation and the presenters will show how to optimize the settings including troubleshooting in simulated environment. Hands on experience will be offered for interested attendees along with interactive question answer sessions. Workshop will include 4 stations providing non-invasive ventilation support including CPAP, non-invasive positive pressure ventilation, nasal high frequency ventilation and non-invasive NAVA ventilation.
All attendees will first briefly hear from the experts on when and how to best utilize each ventilation strategy. It will be followed by a live demonstration at 4 different stations. All groups will rotate at all 4 stations. Workshop leaders will facilitate demonstration, discussion and interactive question answer session along with interesting cases.
