Clinician educators are expected to provide high-quality, evidence-based care for their patients. We should expect the same from their educational approach to learners. However, staying up-to-date with educational literature can be daunting due to the massive number of manuscripts and specific educational nomenclature commonly used. For the past five years, members of the APA's education committee have presented an annual synthesis of the most relevant manuscripts in medical education from the preceding year. The goal of this session is to continue with that tradition, by presenting the top articles in medical education from 2021.
Presenters for this session were selected through formal application within the APA's education committee. This year, we welcomed two new members while two others have rotated off. Consistent with our previous sessions, the group will identify manuscripts using a consensus-based approach. Our team will review and score all medical education manuscripts published in calendar year 2021. Teams will then offer recommendations of manuscripts that warrant consideration for "top articles." A final list will be determined by consensus discussion. Manuscripts will then be organized and presented at PAS in categories using a structured template. During the presentation, audience members may contribute to the discussion through two question and answer opportunities.
Because this session aims to review all manuscripts from 2021, we cannot provide specific manuscript titles or categories at this time. Through our previous five years of experience, we have developed and refined a timeline for review that will ensure final preparation in time for the session.
